Seven Snipers

2018.

Kris “Voodoo Child” Hendricks hides from the world on a failing sheep farm in outback Australia with her teenage daughter, Anja. Their fraught relationship lacks intimacy, which Kris makes no attempt to explain.

A real estate agent arrives, claiming to be interested in the property. His presence triggers Kris’s clandestine military instincts and a sniper-on-sniper shootout ends with Kris burying his body amongst the carcasses of malnourished sheep.

Packed and ready to flee, Kris telephones the local high school but learns that Anja and her boyfriend are missing, probably somewhere on Kris’s isolated property.
Kris can no longer hide from the retribution that, until now, she has eluded.

A helicopter thunders onto the farm. Kris’s ex-commander, White Dog, and his team of four mercenaries are here to protect them. But as soon as the mission is revealed– that they’re up against the near-mythic Bosnian sniper “The Dragon”–the team crumbles through fear.

Upon Anja’s return to the house-cum-military barricade, her mother’s secret history is exposed to her in its full-bloodied truth. White Dog is slain with a long-range head-shot but Kris’s detached reaction scares Anja even more. Under fire, she flees for the comfort of her boyfriend with her mother in pursuit.

They arrive at the teenager’s campsite only to find the murdered body of Anja’s boyfriend. Grief-stricken, Anja questions Kris but the truth pushes them further apart. The Dragon’s sniper fire separates mother and daughter once more.

When the Dragon finally has Kris, face to face, their complicated history is revealed: Fifteen years earlier, during the Bosnian conflict, The Dragon apprehended NATO’s prized sniper and claimed her as his “bride”. After two-years in captivity, brainwashed and complicit, Kris fell pregnant. Eventually she got word to White Dog who rescued her during an airstrike which they believed had killed the Dragon and all his loyalists.

With five bodies strewn about her farm and her daughter by her side, Kris finds herself with a broken scope and a damaged rifle at the lonely end of a long road.
At the other end, freely exposed, the Dragon stares her down.

Only when Anja bravely agrees to act as a spotter for her sniper-mother can the pair finally overcome their greatest enemy; Anja’s father.
